Troopers uncover suspected cocaine, mushrooms, ecstasy, and heroin during Baltimore County traffic stop

TIMONIUM, MD—A traffic stop in Baltimore County over the weekend led to the discovery of cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms, ecstasy, and heroin, Maryland State Police said.

At just before 3:30 a.m. on July 16, a trooper with the Golden Ring Barrack stopped a Honda Accord on the I-695 inner loop prior to Greenspring Avenue on suspicion that the vehicle’s driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Troopers found numerous criminal indicators during the traffic stop, leading them to conduct a K9 scan on the vehicle. The K9 scan produced a positive alert, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of suspected cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms, ecstasy, and heroin.

The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Dwayne Purdie Jr., of Baltimore, was arrested on suspicion of felony drug distribution, two counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl/heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. He was taken to the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack for processing and then transferred to the Baltimore County Detention Center where he was released after seeing a District Court commissioner.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.
