Governor Moore, local officials issue statements condemning ‘abhorrent’ attack on Trump

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Wes Moore has issued a statement condemning the “abhorrent” attack on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump was injured at just after 6 p.m. on Saturday  evening, July 13, when a bullet grazed his right ear during an assassination attempt in Butler, PA.

The rooftop shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was immediately killed by the Secret Service. A motive is still not known.

Firefighter Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed during the incident while trying to protect his family.

“Political violence is unacceptable and against what our country stands for. This kind of cowardice must be roundly condemned by all Americans. What happened today to President Trump is abhorrent and should never be tolerated. Ever,” Governor Moore said in a statement.



The Governor also said that he is grateful for the swift action of law enforcement and that he is praying for the former President and his family.
