BALTIMORE, MD—The next few days will be steamy ones in the Baltimore area. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Monday and an Excessive Heat Watch for Tuesday.
The Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 15. The Excessive Heat Watch will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 16.
Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of around 110–112 degrees are expected on both days.
Forecasters say extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Very warm and humid conditions will persist into the overnight hours. Residents should stay hydrated and find ways to stay cool.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
