BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland’s sports wagering market generated $5,728,503 in contributions to the state from a handle of $384,687,982 during June 2024. Sports wagering contributions go to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs.
The $5.7 million contribution to the state in June 2024 was the fifth-best single-month total and was more than double the $2.8 million figure recorded in June 2023. The $384.7 million in handle was an increase of 51.2% compared to the $254.5 million total in June 2023.
Sports wagering data is tracked and reported based on the State of Maryland’s fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30. For the 12 months of Fiscal Year 2024, sports wagering contributed $60,311,456 to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. Another $985,862 in expired sports wagering prizes were contributed to the state’s Problem Gambling Fund during FY2024.
