Excessive Heat Warning issued for Baltimore area, heat index to reach 112

BALTIMORE, MD—An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Baltimore area and southern Baltimore County on Wednesday.  Northern Baltimore County remains under a Heat Advisory.

The warning will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. on July 10, 2024.  Forecasters say dangerously hot conditions are likely with heat index values of up to 112 expected.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

There is also a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
