Edgewood man arrested in connection with Harford Mall shooting

EDGEWOOD, MD—The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of the suspect involved in the shooting at Harford Mall on June 2, 2024.

On Sunday, HCSO said the Warrant Unit successfully tracked down and arrested Wesley Larry Lyons, 35 of Edgewood.



The Harford County Sheriff’s Office worked in coordination with the Bel Air Police Department to apprehend Lyons.  Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, deputies were able to trace the suspect’s movements and pinpoint his location in Anne Arundel County. Through extensive physical surveillance, they located the suspect’s vehicle and determined the exact hotel room where he was staying.

With this critical information, a search warrant was obtained by Bel Air Police Department investigators for the hotel room. In collaboration with the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s SWAT, the suspect, Lyons, was taken into custody without incident at just after 1 p.m. on Sunday. Following his arrest, Lyons was transferred to the custody of the Bel Air Police Department, where he will face charges related to the shooting.
