MDOT, MSDE kick off school supply drive to benefit students in need

BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) are partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs in Maryland for the fourth annual statewide Back to School Supply Drive.

As part of the initiative, residents can drop off donations at 90 locations across the state through Friday, July 12.

The project hopes help thousands of students before they return to the classroom. Last year the drive collected over 1,000 bags and more than $3,000 in monetary donations.

“As we support the Moore-Miller Administration’s promise to build a stronger Maryland and leave no one behind, it’s critical that school children in every corner of our state have the basic supplies they need to be successful in the classroom,” said Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul J. Wiedefeld. “Together with our partners at the Maryland State Department of Education and the Boys and Girls Clubs in Maryland, we hope to build upon last year’s successful drive that collected 1,000 bags of supplies and more than $3,000 in monetary donations.”

The Boys and Girls Clubs in Maryland work with member clubs across the state to deliver supplies to families in need.

If you’re unable to donate school supplies, you can also make a monetary donation to help the effort.
