Baltimore man sentenced for armed robberies of cell phone stores

BALTIMORE, MD—A U.S. District Judge has sentenced a 46-year-old man from Baltimore to serve time in prison for his part in three armed cell phone store robberies.

Gary Leon Holloway will now serve 14 years in prison and four years of supervised release, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland.

Holloway and his co-conspirators planned and committed the armed robberies of three commercial businesses in January of 2020, according to the guilty plea.

On January 4, January 15, and January 22, Holloway and at least one of his co-defendants robbed cellphone stores in Ellicott City, Glen Burnie, and Dundalk, respectively, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

During each robbery, Holloway brandished a gun and he and his co-defendant stole cell phones and other electronic devices.

In the third robbery, Holloway and two co-defendants forced two employees to open and empty a safe, taking cash and other electronic devices.

Holloway and two co-defendants were arrested in Baltimore County after the third robbery.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore Field Division, the Howard County Police Department, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the Baltimore County Police Department, and the Baltimore Police Department.
