Heat Advisory issued for Sunday in Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Baltimore area.

The advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024.  A Heat Advisory is already in effect for Saturday.

Forecasters say heat index values of 105 to 107 degrees are expected throughout the area on Sunday afternoon and evening.

Oppressive heat and humidity will overspread the area through Sunday before a cold front tracks through early on Monday. Little relief from the heat is expected overnight and into Sunday morning with low temperatures in the 70s, with lower 80s near Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. This will compound heat stress on those without air conditioning.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
