DUNDALK, MD—The missing 6-year-old child who was found in the water in Baltimore County on Friday has died.
At just after 9 a.m. on June 21, crews responded to the 2000-block of Inverton Road in Dundalk for a report of a missing child near a boat ramp. Members from the Baltimore County Fire Department and the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association responded and initiated a comprehensive search of Lynch Cove.
The search operation was extensive, with numerous marine and aviation units scouring the waters of Lynch Cove for over two hours. Despite their efforts, it took rescuers until 11:30 a.m. to locate the child, identified as six-year-old Marcel Traore.
Upon locating Marcel, crews immediately administered life-saving care and transported Marcel to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Marcel was pronounced dead at the hospital.
This tragic event has the Dundalk community. Officials say this incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of water safety, urging residents to exercise caution around water, especially with children.
