ROSEDALE, MD—The I-695/US 40 in the Golden Ring area of Baltimore County will close temporarily on Sunday, June 23 for a traffic barrier upgrade project.

The Maryland State Highway Administration said the 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Thursday project is part of a $200,000 project to upgrade traffic barriers along state highways in Baltimore County and Harford County.

Crews will work overnight to close each ramp as part of the $5.7 million contract. The project is expected to be complete by late June, weather permitting.

Contractor L. S. Lee, Inc. of Hampstead will perform the work. The closures and detours will take place on the following schedule:

  • Sunday, June 23: Southbound I-695 (Inner Loop) ramp to westbound US 40. Detour: Southbound I-695 (Inner Loop) to Exit 35B to eastbound US 40, to northbound I-695 (Outer Loop). Keep right to merge onto westbound US 40. At the end of the ramp merge onto westbound US 40.
  • Monday, June 24: Southbound I-695 (Inner Loop) to eastbound US 40. Detour: Southbound I-695 to Exit 35A to Golden Ring Plaza. Turn right onto Golden Ring Plaza and proceed to MD 7 (Philadelphia Road). Turn right onto MD 7 and proceed to Rossville Boulevard. Turn right onto Rossville Boulevard and turn left onto to eastbound US 40.
  • Tuesday, June 25: Northbound I-695 (Outer Loop) to eastbound US 40. Detour: Northbound I-695 (Outer Loop) to Westbound US 40. Stay right to merge onto southbound I-695 (Inner Loop). Stay right on I-695 to merge onto eastbound US 40.
  • Wednesday, June 26: Eastbound US 40 to Southbound I-695 (Inner Loop). Detour: Eastbound US 40 to Golden Ring Plaza, stay left and make U-Turn onto westbound US 40, proceed to southbound I-695.
  • Thursday, June 27: Eastbound US 40 to Northbound I-695 (Outer Loop). Detour: Eastbound US 40 to Golden Ring Plaza, stay left and make a U-Turn onto westbound US 40, proceed to northbound I-695 (Outer Loop).
