Man arrested after pointing paintball gun at 9-1-1 caller on I-70

BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland State Police arrested a man after he pointed a paintball pistol at a 9-1-1 caller on I-70 westbound in Howard County on Thursday, June 13th.

Troopers stopped 39-year-old James Wells of Ohio for road rage at 9:30 a.m. near the Waterloo Barrack after a 9-1-1 caller reported that a driver in a blue Chevrolet passenger car pointed a firearm at him. The victim also was able to provide a license plate number of the suspect’s car, police said in a news release.



Wells told police during the traffic stop that he pointed a paintball pistol at the victim. Wells also gave police a loaded paintball pistol.

Wells was arrested on the scene of the traffic stop, police said. He was charged with first-degree assault and taken to the Howard County Department of Corrections for processing.
