MDTA Police target dangerous driving across Maryland

BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland Transportation Authority Police made 457 traffic stops and issued 756 citations, warnings, and repair orders during a large-scale safety initiative last week.

The initiative ran from Thursday, May 30, to Friday, May 31, and also involved the Maryland Comptroller’s Office, Maryland Department of the Environment, Maryland State Police, Aberdeen, Bel Air, Baltimore County, and the Harford County Sheriff’s Office to address “leading causes of crashes including aggressive, distracted, and impaired driving,” according to MDTA.

Three people were charged with driving under the influence, one with drug offenses, and four with open warrants. Additional enforcement efforts are planned throughout the summer, MDTA said.

“To report dangerous driving on Maryland toll roads, contact MDTA Police Dispatch at 410-537-7911,” MDTA said.
