Historic Harford County barn ‘total loss’ after weekend fire

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD—An historic barn in Harford County went up in flames on Sunday afternoon.

At around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, crews responded to a fire at the Steppingstone Farm Museum’s barn in Havre de Grace.

The barn was used for museum exhibits and storage. The structure was a total loss, along with many of the historic artifacts stored within it.



It took 50 firefighters about an hour to control the blaze.  The Office of the State Fire Marshal estimates total damage at around $200,000, although the price of the historic artifacts lost has not yet been assessed.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  The museum is currently accepting donations online here.
