Nottingham husband and wife snag $50,014 Keno prize

NOTTINGHAM, MD—A Baltimore County husband and wife simply love playing Keno To Go.  Typically, the top prize for this game is $25,000, but thanks to the Maryland Lottery’s Keno Sprinkler promotion, they recently won $50,014.

“We were so surprised,” said the wife, who collected the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The Nottingham woman also plays scratch-offs and said this score set a new personal Lottery record for the two of them.

Her journey to their big win began at Pappas Restaurant & Sports Bar, located at 1725 Taylor Avenue in Parkville.

“I went there to get some food,” she said. The winner was going to replay her Keno to Go tickets while there, but her car broke down in the parking lot and she decided to go home once it was fixed.

She returned on another day, April 14 to be exact, with those same Keno To Go tickets to replay. Her husband picks the numbers for the 10-spot Keno to Go tickets based on a combination of personal digits, she said. When the bank employee returned home with her scratch-offs and his Keno To Go tickets, she delivered his games to him and then stayed downstairs to visit with guests.

Her husband uses the Maryland Lottery mobile app to scan his tickets to check for a win and the next thing she knew, he was calling out to her.

“He said, ‘Come upstairs! I have something to show you!’” she recalled. “He said, ‘Look at this!’” Her response to the winning message on his phone was, “Oh my goodness gracious. I can’t believe it.”

They plan to pay bills with the prize and buy new kitchen appliances, the mother of two and grandmother of many said.
