BCPS to honor National Board-certified teachers

TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) will honor its teachers who have achieved the National Board Certification. A pinning ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 29 to recognize the 25 teachers who have earned this prestigious certification.

National Board Certification is the highest certification that teachers can receive. To earn this certification, they must successfully complete a rigorous peer-review process. Teachers from across the U.S. undergo this rigorous process to demonstrate their impact on student learning and achievement.

BCPS has more than 100 Board-certified teachers. This recent wave of certifications reflects the additional support that the BCPS offers to teachers as they embark on this challenging task.

“Becoming Board certified is just one of many ways that our teachers continually advance their skills and understanding,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers. “While BCPS has more than 100 Boardcertified teachers, more than a third of these teachers earned their certification in 2022 and 2023. This rapid rise in Board-certification reflects the additional supports we offer to assist teachers who undertake the arduous process. Through professional development activities and continued education, Board-certified teachers bring additional expertise to our schools and enrich the academic progress of our students. We are proud of these teachers for serving as role models to both their students and fellow educators.”

The pinning ceremony will be held at the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson. First Federal Financial Credit Union will sponsor the event. Allyson Eisenberg, Generalist/Early Childhood, will be one of the speakers at the event.
