BALTIMORE, MD—Crews detonated small, controlled charges on Monday evening to remove a huge section of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge from the bow of the M/V Dali vessel.
The small explosives are an industry-standard tool in controlled demolition. The charges broke the large span into smaller pieces that could be more easily removed.
Officials say the next step will be to remove the M/V Dali from the channel.
