Massive regional drug bust leads to 7 arrests; authorities seize fentanyl, guns, body armor, $35K in cash

BALTIMORE, MD—Police say they have taken down a large, regional drug trafficking organization following an extensive, months-long investigation.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, Baltimore Police Department detectives with the Group Violence Unit executed a total of eight warrants in partnership with SWAT teams, Anne Arundel County members, Baltimore County members, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and York Regional Task Force.



In all, seven suspects were placed under arrest:

  • 21-year-old Tieon Garrus
  • 22-year-old Damien Cornick
  • 26-year-old Rodney Monroe
  • 37-year-old Terrel Simpson
  • 39-year-old Devin Cornick
  • 57-year-old Wesley Lawson
  • 64-year-old Edwin Cornick

During the operation, detectives recovered six firearms, approximately 28 ounces of fentanyl, 650 grams of fentanyl, one set of body armor, a bulk quantity of various types of ammunition, and $35,000 in U.S. currency.
