BALTIMORE, MD—The Archdiocese of Baltimore has announced a list of several Catholic churches that may close or merge in and around the Baltimore area.
The “Seek the City to Come” proposal realigns Catholic parishes throughout Baltimore City and some nearby communities in Baltimore County. Pastoral leadership for each location would be determined at a later date.
The list of proposed closures and mergers that will be discussed at public forums on April 25 at Archbishop Curley High School and April 30 at Mount St. Joseph High School. Both events are scheduled to take place 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
In northeastern Baltimore County, Church of the Annunciation (Rosedale), St. Michael the Archangel (Overlea), St. Clement Mary Hofbauer (Rosedale), Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Essex), St. Clare Catholic Church (Essex), Immaculate Heart of Mary (Towson/Parkville), St. Thomas More (Parkville/Hillendale), and St. Pius X (Baltimore/Towson) would all be affected.
