Resurfacing, safety improvements begin on US 1 in Harford County

BEL AIR, MD—A $3.9 million project to resurface and improve safety in Harford County has begun, impacting traffic on U.S. 1 Business.

The State Highway Administration said the project is expected to finish in 2025, weather permitting. The 1.4-mile project is from Moores Mill Road to the U.S. 1 Bypass (Hickory Bypass).

The work will include asphalt pavement milling, patching and resurfacing. New reflective pavement markings and traffic signs will also be applied. There will also be repairs to segments of concrete sidewalks, ramps, gutters and curbs. Upgrades to traffic signal system equipment and barriers along the road are also part of the project.

During construction, single-lane closures and flagging operations will be on U.S. 1 Business during off-peak and overnight hours. The contractor is Allan Myers MD Inc. of Fallston.
