Baltimore County woman wins $50K after buying scratch-off ticket in Bel Air

BALTIMORE, MD—A Baltimore County woman has won $50,000 after buying a scratch-off ticket in Bel Air.

“My mind just went blank,” the woman told Maryland Lottery officials when asked about her discovery of a $50,000 top prize on a scratch-off named $ (dollar sign).

“The only words I could form were, ‘No way, this can’t be true.’”

This remarkable moment occurred at her real estate office, she explained, during a lunch break.

“I was about to make a phone call when I remembered the tickets I’d picked up that morning from the Wawa in Bel Air.”

She had barely begun scratching when the $50,000 match made its appearance.

“My hands started shaking. It was one heck of a shock.”

The lucky winner says she buys scratch-offs several times a week, but not just any instant tickets.

“I play $5 games almost exclusively,” she confided. “I seem to have the most luck with them, but I never imagined anything like this happening.”

Luckily for the her, $ was the first $5 instant game she saw when entering the Wawa located at 709 Belair Road.

Our happy winner, who hails from a small community in Baltimore County, plans to augment her retirement fund with her $50,000 prize.

“It won’t be life changing in the way most people think, but I’ve breathed easier about my future every day since I won. That’s good enough for me.”
