KEY BRIDGE COLLAPSE: Port of Baltimore suspends vessel traffic, flight restrictions issued, Olszewski issues statement

BALTIMORE, MD—The Port of Baltimore has suspended all vessel traffic in the wake of Tuesday morning’s Key Bridge collapse.

Authorities say vessel traffic in and out of the area has been suspended until further notice.  The Port of Baltimore is not closed, as trucks are still being processed at marine terminals.  There has been no word on how long vessel traffic will be suspended.

The FBI’s Baltimore Field Office on Tuesday said “there is no specific and credible information to suggest any ties to terrorism at this time. The investigation is ongoing.”

Rescue efforts are ongoing after a cargo ship slammed into one of the Key Bridge’s support beams, causing it to collapse at just after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26th.

Two people were rescued from the water.  One individual refused treatment and another person is in serious condition.  At least six people are still unaccounted for.

The Baltimore Beltway is closed at the Key Bridge and traffic is being detoured.

Meanwhile, the FAA is warning drone pilots that flight restrictions are in place around the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.

“Do not interfere with rescue operations,” the FAA said in a statement. “If you fly, emergency response operations cannot.”

Additional information is available at the FAA website here and in the graphic above.

Governor Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency and Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski has issued the following statement:
