Baltimore man pleads guilty to 3 armed robberies

BALTIMORE, MD—A Baltimore man has pleaded guilty to committing three armed commercial robberies that took place in January of 2020, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Maryland District.

Gary Leon Holloway Jr., 46, has pleaded guilty to committing an armed robbery and using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Holloway and his co-conspirators planned and committed the armed robberies of three businesses between January 4, 2020, and January 22, 2020. The first robbery took place at a cellphone store in Ellicott City, where Holloway and at least one other person stole cellphones and other electronic devices.

During the second robbery at a Glen Burnie cellphone store, Holloway and one other person stole cellphones and other electronic devices, and also took the wallets of two employees. The third robbery at a Dundalk cellphone store forced the employees to open and empty a safe, taking cash and other electronic devices.

Holloway was arrested after the third robbery on January 22, 2020. Detectives were able to discover that Holloway was related to two of the co-defendants in the case.

If the plea agreement is accepted by the court, Holloway could be sentenced to 14 years in federal prison. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for June 21, 2024.
