BALTIMORE, MD— Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday morning along I-695 in Baltimore County.
At just after 8 a.m. on March 23, troopers responded to the outer loop of I-695 at Wilkens Avenue for a two-vehicle crash on the left shoulder. No injuries were reported and tow truck operators were on the scene to assist with removing the vehicles.
Troopers then left the scene to investigate a single-vehicle crash on the inner loop in the same area. At around 8:30 a.m., police were notified that a minivan had spun out and struck the tow truck that had responded to the initial crash.
The passenger of the minivan, identified as Sang Yoo Kang, 60, of Severn, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the minivan and tow truck were transported by ambulance to Shock Trauma for treatment of their injuries.
The outer loop of I-695 at Wilkins Avenue was partially closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours before reopening at just before noon.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
