BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Baltimore area as heavy rains are expected this weekend.
The Flood Watch will be in effect from last Friday night through Saturday afternoon.
Forecasters say rainfall of 1.5 to 2.5 inches is most likely late Friday night through Saturday morning, with rain expected to depart Saturday afternoon. The bulk of this rain is expected to fall in a six-hour period, and may result in flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, as well as on small streams.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may also become flooded.
Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
Sunday should be clear and windy with highs in the low 50s.
