Maryland DNR announces 2024 Youth Fishing Rodeo schedule

BALTIMORE, MD—With spring & summer quickly approaching, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has announced the dates and locations of Youth Fishing Rodeos for 2024. The 50 events are free and open for children ages 3-15 and will take place in 14 counties across the state.

The purpose of the Youth Rodeo Program is to provide kids with a safe and engaging fishing experience while also teaching them basic skills and how to fish responsibly. Many of the events are held in state parks and other public lands.

Maryland has a long history of youth fishing rodeos, with some events dating back more than 60 years. The events are free and open to all ages, skill levels, and locations. However, some venues may have space limitations, so attendees are encouraged to check the online rodeo schedule for any cancellations or rescheduling.

MDDNR encourages anglers of all ages and skill levels to consider entering. Entering a tournament can provide a fun and challenging way for kids to develop their skills and experience.
