Baltimore woman uses second set of eyes to confirm $100,000 lottery win

BALTIMORE, MD—A medical worker couldn’t believe her eyes when she scratched off a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off ticket. In fact, the northern Baltimore City woman was in such disbelief, she needed another set of eyes to verify her win and asked a friend to take a look.

“I said to her, ‘Did I see what I thought I saw?”‘ recalled the lucky winner, who claimed her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore with her friend by her side.

She had scratched off the 50X The Cash game and matched the winning number of 23. Using a quarter, she revealed the prize of $100,000 beneath the match. Both her friend and her Maryland Lottery app confirmed her win.

The loyal player told officials that she likes to use quarters to scratch off her instant tickets. She explained that she doesn’t use the same quarter and will refuse a smaller coin.

“If you scratch with a penny, all that you win is pennies,” said the medical worker.

Now that she has secured her prize, the winner plans to use it to pay off bills. She bought her lucky $10 instant ticket at the 7-Eleven  located at 5401 Radecke Avenue (21206).
