Northeast Baltimore homicide suspect arrested

BALTIMORE, MD—Police arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that occurred in northeast Baltimore earlier this month.

In reference to the homicide that occurred on March 1, 2024, investigators have arrested 23-year-old Derek Steele of Baltimore.



Detectives learned that Steele fatally shot 55-year-old Johnny Small while in the 5300-block of Frankford Avenue (21206) following a dispute.

On March 11, 2024, officers arrested Steele in the 1700-block of West Baltimore Street.  He is currently being held at Central Booking where has been charged with first-degree murder.

Steele is currently being held without bail.
