Blink Charging to relocate headquarters, build new production facility in Maryland

BOWIE, MD—Electric vehicle charging company Blink Charging plans to relocate its headquarters to Maryland, Governor Wes Moore announced this week. The company will also build a new production facility in Bowie.

The new development will include 15,000 square feet of office space at 17301 Melford Boulevard in Prince George’s County and a 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant at 5081 Howerton Way.

Governor Moore welcomed the news, stating that the move was in line with the state’s plans to transition to 100% clean energy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Blink’s headquarters to the Great State of Maryland. This decision doesn’t just affirm our commitment to climate action – it also supports our work to create new jobs and make Maryland more competitive,” said Gov. Moore. “Together, we will meet our goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2035, and we will ensure that climate justice drives economic justice.”

The state’s department of commerce approved a $1 million loan for the project, with a further $120,000 loan coming from Prince George’s County.

“We couldn’t be happier that Blink has chosen Prince George’s County for its new headquarters,” said Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson. “Being in close proximity to federal agencies, climate change advocates, and several metropolitan areas incorporating additional electric vehicles will benefit both the company’s bottom line and the environment throughout the Mid Atlantic.”

Blink Charging president & CEO Brendan Jones said that the move was a “pivotal moment” for the company. He was proud of the product and technology it has developed to enhance efficiency and output speed.

The company’s headquarters, as well as its new production facility at 5081 Howerton Way, are contained within Melford Town Center, a mixed-use business community developed by St. John Properties, Inc.

The new production facility in Bowie will support the company’s growth by adding another production line and streamlining operations. The expansion will also allow the company to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicles.

As part of the deal, Blink Charging will be eligible for various other incentives, including the More Jobs for Marylanders program and the state’s Job Creation Tax Credit.
