TOWSON, MD—A local Walmart will soon be closing its doors.
The company announced on Wednesday that it would be closing its store located in Towson Place at 1238 Putty Hill Avenue.
“This decision was not made lightly and was reached only after a careful and thoughtful review process,” Director Alicia Anger said in a statement. “We have nearly 5,000 stores across the U.S. and unfortunately some do not meet our financial expectations. While our underlying business is strong, this store hasn’t performed as well as we hoped.”
Towson store associates are eligible for transfer to another location and will be compensated through June 14. They will have option to receive severance if they choose not to transfer.
The Towson Walmart is slated to close on April 5th. The next closest locations are in Cockeysville and Nottingham.
