Man gets 50 years for gunpoint carjacking on Harford Road

BALTIMORE, MD—A man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after officials say he stole a car at gunpoint, assaulted a man with a loaded gun, and took off.

Officials say Karon Alston and another unknown male approached the victim in the parking lot of the Harford Seafood Market, located at 6800 Harford Road (21234), on February 2, 2023.

One of the men took out a gun and pointed it at the victim, officials say. The victim was told to give Alston money, or he would shoot the victim. Alston then pulled the victim’s jacket over his head and pushed him to the ground.

A physical struggle broke out and Alston took out a black revolver. Officials say he pointed the gun at the victim and pulled the trigger multiple times. Luckily, the gun did not fire.

Alston then took the victim’s car keys and $140 before fleeing the scene in the victim’s car. The victim was treated at the hospital for his injuries. He suffered bruises and abrasions.

Alston was not allowed to have a gun at the time of the carjacking because of previous convictions for robbery and CDS distribution.
