WHITE MARSH, MD—Losing your vehicle in a fire is stressful enough without worrying about being stranded on the highway. Some local firefighters have gone above and beyond to welcome guests to their station following these incidents in recent days.
Over the past two days, the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company has responded to a pair of vehicle fires on I-95. On both days, they returned to their station with more than just their crew.
On Monday, crews responded to vehicle fire on the southbound I-95 ramp to I-695. The young driver, Evan, was traveling from his home in Oxford, PA to college in Lynchburg, VA. WMVFC’s volunteer crews provided transportation for Evan back to their station while he waited for a family member to arrive from Pennsylvania.
On Tuesday evening, a mobile home traveling from Ocean City, NJ to Florida experienced an electrical fire that stranded a family of six. Again, WMVFC personnel sprung into action and transported the family of two adults and four children back to their station. This allowed them to wait in comfort and safety while alternate accommodations and transportation could be arranged.
“We always work to treat others as we would want to be treated,” said WMVFC in a Facebook post.
