Councilman Marks: Digital speed sign to be installed along Eastern Avenue, safety study coming in March

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Councilman David Marks on Thursday said that safety improvements are being discussed along a busy stretch of Eastern Avenue.

Councilman Marks, Middle River’s state legislators, and several stakeholders have met with Maryland State Highway Administration engineers to press for immediate and long-term improvements to the Eastern Avenue corridor in Middle River.

A safety study will be completed in March, followed by a community meeting (date TBD).

Additionally, with the assistance of local resident Dave Conrad and the Essex police precinct, a Variable Message Sign will be installed to alert motorists to their speed.

“Many thanks to Senator J.B. Jennings, Delegate Ryan Nawrocki, and Delegate Kathy Szeliga for their participation and leadership,” said Councilman Marks. “My plan to lighten development through rezoning should also help in the long term.”
