Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski announces campaign for Congress [VIDEO]

TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski on Tuesday announced plans to run for Congress.

“Johnny O.” will look to replace retiring Democratic Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger in Maryland’s second district.

Olszewski, 41, is currently serving his second term as Baltimore County Executive. He previously spent nine years in the Maryland General Assembly.

“I am excited to announce that I’m officially running for Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District,” County Executive Olszewski said on Tuesday morning.  “As a public school teacher, a state legislator, and as Baltimore County Executive, I’m proud to have dedicated my life to serving our communities.”

“With our democracy under attack and extremists threatening to take away our basic rights, it’s time to send a new generation of leadership to Congress,” Olszewski continued.
