WINTER STORM WARNING: Snow totals increased, trash collection postponed, government offices closed

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Baltimore area. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

The warning will remain in effect until 10 p.m. on Friday, January 19th.

Expected snow totals have been bumped up to 5–8 inches for much of the region.

The Snow Emergency Plan is now in effect and government offices will be closed on Friday in Baltimore County and Harford County.

Baltimore County Public Schools and Harford County Public Schools and offices are closed and all BCPS weekend activities have been cancelled.



Remaining trash and recycling collection services for Friday, January 19, and Saturday, January 20 will be postponed.

Regular trash collection will resume on Monday, January 22, and will proceed as scheduled for the remainder of the week.

Residents typically scheduled for Friday trash collection, as well as those whose collection were impacted due to earlier inclement weather, are should wait until their next scheduled collection day to set out their cans.

Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and avoid travel is possible.

Bitter cold will settle in on Friday night with 30–40 mph wind gusts and wind chills in the single digits.
