EDGEWOOD, MD—Two Baltimore men are in custody in connection with an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend in Harford County.
At just after 8 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, a Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a white Volkswagen sedan that was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Route 152 and I-95. The Volkswagen failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The deputy notified dispatch that the vehicle was occupied by two males wearing face masks. The brief pursuit ended safely when the vehicle stopped for the deputy in the area of Edgewood Road and Emmorton Park Road.
While the pursuit was in progress, police were alerted to an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Mystic Mart located in the 1700-block of Hanson Road in Edgewood. During the robbery, the suspects displayed a handgun and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and an iPhone. The description of the suspect vehicle matched the one that had been involved in the police pursuit. Once the vehicle was stopped, Jayce Daimon Billips, 22, and Sede Kenyon Baker, 23, both of Baltimore, were identified as the occupants and were subsequently detained at the scene.
Additional deputies were dispatched to assist with the investigation and recovered a black iPhone, cash, and drugs from the detained individuals. During a search along the route of the pursuit, deputies located a small blue bookbag containing a handgun.
Billips and Baker were charged accordingly and transported to the Harford County Detention Center. At this time, they are both being held without bond.
