Frederick woman is Maryland’s newest lottery millionaire after winning $2 million

FREDERICK, MD—A Frederick County scratch-off fan has dreamed of owning a beach home all of her life. She says rarely plays games that cost $30, which carry top prizes of up to $2 million – however, her recent decision to take a chance on a $30 200X The Cash instant ticket led to a $2 million top-prize win that will allow her to make her dream a reality.

The anonymous winner, calling herself “New Beach House Owner” to tell her winning story, found Maryland Lottery luck waiting at the Sheetz gas station located at 1600 Rosemont Avenue in Frederick.

While awaiting her hot dog & soda combo order, the Frederick resident decided to buy some scratch-offs. Usually, she opts for $5 and $10 instant tickets, but something about the $30 200X The Cash game caught her eye. Her order wasn’t ready yet so she decided to scratch off her instant ticket in the store. The lucky woman was overwhelmed with excitement seeing the $2 million prize on her scratch-off. She never did get her hot dog and soda order.

“I went and got in my car and locked the door,” the happy winner told Maryland Lottery officials. She was so shocked that her hands were shaking. The first people she called to share the news with were her children and her son, who thought she was joking, demanded to see the winning scratch-off.

The retiree says she spends her free time running errands and taking care of family members. She can soon do so with an ocean view after fulfilling her dream of owning beachfront property.
