BGE to upgrade infrastructure from Rosedale to Middle River in 2024

BALTIMORE, MD—Baltimore Gas and Electric will upgrade a significant portion of its infrastructure in eastern Baltimore County.

The company this week announced that it will upgrade its transmission infrastructure from the Chesaco Park Substation to the Middle River Substation this year.  This project will help meet future electricity needs and improve operations in the event of an outage.

The work is expected to start in winter 2024 and go through spring. BGE will replace outdated wires on existing structures adjacent to Amtrak structures on the BGE right of way.  Residents may see increased activity in the area, including the arrival of equipment and materials at the project site as early February 2, 2024.

Helicopters will be used to install the new line so residents may see and hear them flying along the corridor and in neighboring areas during the day.  Construction will occur Monday though Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting, with extended hours of occasional weekend work as needed.

Residents are urged to use caution when walking or driving around utility work zones. These areas will be marked throughout tis project.

The project will comply with all environmental permitting and regulatory requirements.
