Potential weekend winter storm may affect Baltimore area following quiet holiday week

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has provided an update with regard to predicted snow totals from this storm.

BALTIMORE, MD—The holidays were fairly quiet weather-wise in the Baltimore area, but that could change this weekend.

After a minor “clipper” system moves through the region on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, the National Weather Service says there is the possibility that a winter storm could impact the area on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

The Baltimore area hasn’t seen an inch or more of snowfall since January 28, 2022.

Exactly how much, if any, snow falls along the I-95 corridor in the Baltimore area will depend on the track of the storm.  This weekend’s system will approach from the south, likely pulling warmer Atlantic Ocean air with it.  The exact track of the storm will be key as areas to the north and west of the disturbance’s track will likely see more snow, while area to the south and east of the storm track will see mostly rain.

Residents should stay tuned to local forecasts throughout the week.
