Delegate Jackson sponsors toy giveaway for local elementary school students

BALTIMORE, MD—State Delegate Carl Jackson is planning to deliver 150 toys to deserving children from across the district.

Representing the 8th legislative district of Maryland, Delegate Jackson was initially appointed to the seat in 2021 before winning the seat outright in 2022 by an overwhelming margin. The former Baltimore County alum has made it his mission while in office to secure funding for underserved areas in his district, including working with District colleagues to secure the funds to build a new recreation center in the McCormick area.

Now, Delegate Jackson has secured 150 toys for underprivileged children from the Marine Toys for Tots organization. He has selected three area elementary schools to visit and deliver the toys, including: McCormick Elementary, Shady Spring Elementary, and Oakleigh Elementary. Each school will select 50 deserving students to receive a toy just in time for Christmas.

“As a proud state representative of District 8, I wanted to bring a smile to the faces of our deserving children, and their families, many of whom have been negatively impacted by the current economic climate post-COVID,” said Delegate Jackson. “This is merely a continuation of my commitment to the district, and my investment into our younger generation. At the end of the day, if we don’t invest in our children, the streets will.”

The school visits will take place 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
