NOTTINGHAM, MD—Fifth District Councilman David Marks on Wednesday issued the following statement regarding efforts to change the office of the Baltimore County Inspector General:
“I am restating, once again, my strong support for an independent Inspector General. I supported the creation of an Inspector General years before it was formally established.
“After listening to yesterday’s testimony, my position is clear: I will vote against all amendments to the administration’s legislation to enact the recommendations of the blue ribbon commission. I never suggested any amendments in the first place.
“If further changes are needed, they should be considered as separate legislation developed after discussions with the administration, Inspector General, other stakeholders, and the public. They should reflect best practices used by Inspectors General across the country.”
