MIDDLE RIVER, MD—The Airmen of the Maryland Air National Guard’s 175th Wing will be participating in an Air Combat Command directed readiness exercise at Martin State Air National Guard Base.
The operation will take place Thursday, November 30 through Sunday, December 3, 2023.
Operation Frosty Strike, which is a full-scale readiness exercise, will be conducted to demonstrate the 175th Wing’s ability to “survive and operate in a realistic combat environment against a near peer adversary while fulfilling its federally assigned missions,” according to the official announcement.
During the exercise, the local community may see higher than usual traffic at the Lynbrook Road entrance to Martin State Air National Guard Base and will hear many exercise-related messages, sirens, and various tones played through the base Giant Voice alarm system.
There will be a marked increase in military maneuvers and situational training events involving security forces, fire, and emergency services throughout the next four days. The community members may also see Airmen wearing gas masks and chemical warfare gear during the preplanned exercise.
Residents with questions or concerns may reach out to the State Public Affairs office at 667-296-3662 or email at [email protected].
