FALLSTON, MD—Two adults and four children have been displaced following a Friday evening house fire in the Fallston area.
At just before 7:30 p.m. on November 24, crews responded to a house fire in the 1600-block Watervale Road.
Upon arrival, smoke could be seen coming from the roof and also on the first and second floors of the residence. The homeowner stated that their father in-law was still inside with a garden hose attempting to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters were quickly able to enter the residence, locate the family member, and move him to safety, where he was then evaluated by medical personnel.
Crews were then able to extinguish the fire. Authorities say the homeowners were using their fireplace on the first floor to heat the home and began seeing smoke.
It took 40 firefighters approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which was caused by a cracked flue pipe/duct.
The fire caused about $200,000 in damages to the home. Two adults and four children have been displaced and are being assisted by family members.
