Domestic disturbance leads to fatal officer-involved shooting in Parkville

UPDATE 3: Body cam police footage from this incident has been released.

UPDATE 2: The police officers who fired their weapons in this incident have been identified by the Attorney General’s office.

UPDATE: The woman fatally wounded during a domestic disturbance that occurred in the 2700 block of Maple Ave. on Friday, November 24, 2023 has been identified as 48-year-old Maxine Redfern. The deceased suspect has been identified as 52-year-old Arnel Redfern.

PARKVILLE, MD—Two people are dead following a Friday night domestic disturbance in Parkville.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on  November 24, 2023, officers with the Baltimore County Police Department responded to the 2700-block of Maple Avenue (21234) in reference to a domestic disturbance.

As the first responding officer approached the residence, shots were heard from inside the home as well as the sound of a woman screaming. As officers approached, an adult male opened the front door of the residence and fired a weapon at the officers. During the incident, three officers discharged their weapons.

The adult man who fired at the officers was pronounced dead at the scene. A search of the residence also revealed a deceased adult woman. A handgun was recovered next to the adult man.

As homicide detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident, investigators with the Maryland Attorney General’s Office Independent Investigation’s Division will oversee the officer-involved shooting investigation.
