Funeral for fallen Baltimore City firefighter to impact I-695, I-83 traffic on Friday

BALTIMORE, MD—The funeral for fallen Baltimore City firefighter Rodney W. Pitts III has just concluded at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.

The funeral procession will shortly be moving along I-695 in the Towson area and onto northbound I-83, ending at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

The following additional road closures are also in effect:

  • West Northern Parkway closed from North Charles Street to I-83 following funeral (expect closures and delays between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.)
  • East Padonia Road closed from I-83 to 200 East Padonia Road (expected closures and delays between 1 and 2 p.m.). Expect additional delays along York Road.
  • East Padonia Road will be closed from Eastridge Road to Treherne Road between 1 and 3 p.m.

Pitts died last Thursday after battling a house fire on Linden Heights Avenue. A second firefighter, Lieutenant Dillon Rinaldo, passed away from his injuries earlier this week. Funeral plans for Rinaldo have not been announced.
