WHITE MARSH, MD—On Monday, September 18, the Baltimore County Council will vote on legislation introduced by Councilman David Marks that would restrict new apartments in much of the White Marsh Town Center.
This bill repeals earlier this legislation that allowed for apartments east of White Marsh Mall.
“I urge you to contact [email protected] and ask my colleagues to support Bill 52-23,” said Councilman Marks. “The bill immediately eliminates at least 330 proposed apartments and any future units from being proposed.”
In recent weeks, several apartment complex projects have been proposed for the White Marsh area, sparking criticism from local residents.
“Over the coming weeks, we will be laying out the recommendations of the task force that I established to look at the White Marsh Town Center,” Councilman Marks added. “That report will focus more explicitly on the future of White Marsh Mall and look at issues such as building height, open space, and transportation.”
Councilman Marks has previously stated that he does not want to see the White Marsh Town Center become a “sea of apartments.”
“Bill 52-23 and our subsequent recommendations from the task force will do that, leading to more thoughtful planning,” Marks concluded.
