BALTIMORE, MD—A 67-year-old Rosedale man stunned his family with news of a $50,000 scratch-off win playing the Ca$h Multiplier game.
The big winner purchased his lucky instant ticket about a month ago. A casual Maryland Lottery player, he was out and about when he stopped at White Marsh Plaza Liquors, located at 7968 Honeygo Boulevard (21236), for a few items and decided to play a couple of scratch-offs.
He purchased a $2 instant ticket and the $5 Ca$h Multiplier scratch-off. Instead of scratching the entire play area, the lucky player scanned the prize check barcodes on both games. To his pleasant surprise, the Ca$h Multiplier revealed a $50,000 top-prize win.
“I was so anxious,” he said. “I could not wait to get home and scratch the entire ticket so I could see how I won.”
Although super excited, the lucky winner had to wait until his wife and son arrived home from out of town to share his great news.
“I thought it was a joke,” said the winner’s son, who accompanied his father to claim the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I had to double-check the ticket to see if it was real.”
The lucky player’s son, after confirming the win, helped his dad make an appointment to claim his prize last week. The Baltimore County winner said he plans to use the windfall for a new car, furniture for his home and gifts for his family.
