JARRETTSVILLE, MD—One man is dead following a Thursday afternoon crash in Harford County.
At around 12:45 p.m. on July 27, deputies with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 165 in the area
Furnace Road and Huntfield Way involving a Harford County dump truck and a passenger vehicle.
The driver of the BMW 328i, identified as John Derwart, 78, of Fallston, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicates that the construction vehicle was maneuvering around an active work zone at the intersections of Rt. 165, Furnace Road, and Huntfield Way. The dump truck was traveling northbound on Rt. 165, through the intersection, when the two vehicles collided. No passengers were in the construction vehicle, while one passenger, an 81-year-old Fallston woman, was in the BMW. She was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
