BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the Baltimore area.

This new warning will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023. An Excessive Heat Warning is already in effect for Friday.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected with the heat index likely to reach 110 degrees on Friday and 111 degrees on Saturday.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

By Sunday, the heat wave should break with a high of 86 degrees expected.
