EDGEWOOD, MD— An Edgewood man is in custody after being charged in connection with a July 2, non-fatal shooting in Edgewood.
Investigators with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office determined that, on July 2, 2023, a 20-year-old male was involved in an altercation with Umi Tor Adams, 24, of Edgewood. The altercation occurred in the area of Candlewood Drive and Candlewood Court in Edgewood and quickly escalated leading to the victim being shot.
Deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body and began life-saving measures until medics arrived and took over. The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
As the investigation continued, Adams was developed as the suspect and on July 3, an arrest warrant was obtained by detectives charging him with attempted first-degree murder. Deputies took him into custody in Harford County without incident on Monday, July 10, 2023.
Adams was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he is awaiting an initial appearance before a district court commissioner for his charges.
